Treating Broken Capillaries with an IPL Photofacial

Intense pulsed light therapy is also called an IPL photofacial because it delivers precise amounts of light energy to specific areas on the skin. The intense flash of light causes minimal skin damage and resembles the flashbulb of a camera. The light passes through the superficial layers of skin and reaches the deep layers. This is where collagen, blood vessels, and pigment are found. When the deeper layers of skin are treated with light energy, they are stimulated to grow new collagen. This reduces fine lines and wrinkles, pore size and the appearance of acne scars and erases broken capillaries on the face.

In most cases, people affected by broken capillaries are older, but anyone above 18 years old can be affected by the condition. They may appear on the face, arms, neck, shoulders, and legs. The good news is that you do not need to live with these unsightly broken capillaries or spider veins any longer.

The main goal of an IPL photofacial treatment is to improve the appearance of your skin and leave it looking rejuvenated and more youthful. During a consultation with our specialist, you can learn if your skin problems can be effectively treated with an IPL photofacial. The main conditions IPL photofacial can treat are:

• The redness caused by birthmarks, broken capillaries, and rosacea
• Sun damage, such as sunspots, freckles, and solar lentigines, as well as age spots, melasma,  or skin darkening caused by pregnancy or birth control pills
• Rough-textured skin, aging skin, and fine wrinkles

The treatment usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes, and one treatment per month may be required for three to six months depending on the condition and the severity of the condition.

In the vast majority of cases, IPL photofacial treatments are very safe. Only the targeted area is treated and the surrounding skin is untouched.

People with fair complexion and sun-damaged skin are the best candidates for IPL photofacial treatments. However, people with tanned or darker skin can also benefit, but the recovery time may be a bit longer since the pigment in the skin may absorb some of the laser light.

IPL photofacials are an effective treatment for many unsightly skin conditions. With just two or three sessions, you may look years younger.
