Sacramento Non-Surgical Reviews
“The office is very clean, and I like that you enter into a waiting room but checkout in a different room. Not all centers have that, and it is nice to have the privacy when checking out. The ladies up front are very nice. I’ve called them multiple times before coming in, and they always took the time to explain to me different procedures over the phone. They never seemed in a rush to get off the phone with me, and I appreciate that. They are just as nice and friendly in person…
The 11’s are the two vertical lines that form between the eyebrows. This area, known as the glabella, is best treated with Botox Cosmetic or Dysport. If the wrinkles are more stubbornly etched in the skin, then a filler such as Restylane or Juvederm Ultra is recommended.
Crow’s feet are the radiating lines at the corner of the eyes. The goal of treating Crow’s feet with Botox Cosmetic or Dysport is softening the look of the lines without looking “frozen.”
Forehead wrinkles are the horizontal wrinkles of the forehead that are successfully treated with Botox Cosmetic and Dysport. However, if the forehead muscle is supporting a sagging eyebrow a brow lift may be needed.
Lip wrinkles, often referred to as smoker’s lines, commonly occur even in non-smokers. These lip lines can be nicely softened using Vobella or Restylane Refyne.
Nasolabial folds. The best option to treat these superficial wrinkles are dermal fillers including Vobella , Juvederm Ultra and Restylane.
Facial Volume Loss
Lip Volume and Definition Loss
Over time, the upper and lower lip lose volume and structure, resulting in thinner lips, loss of Cupid’s bow definition and wrinkles.
As part of your lip rejuvenation treatment plan Dr. Kaniff may recommend one or more fillers depending on the condition of your lip area. The goal of lip filler is a natural appearing lip that doesn’t attract attention, but complements the other facial features. Lip filler options include Vobella, Juvederm Ultra and Restyle Refyne. Because lips are very sensitive, Dr. Kaniff performs a specialized dental block to numb the lips making lip fillers more comfortable than traditional numbing creams or ice packs. In addition, he uses specialized injecting cannulas to create an even injection and reduce the chance of bruising.
The goal of lip fillers is beautiful, natural appearing lips. In many instance the lips require more structure than Vobella XC can provide. In these situations Juvederm Ultra or Restylane is used to add this volume and structure, followed by Vobella XC to smooth the fine lines.
Nasolabial Folds and Marionette Lines
The nasolabial folds, commonly known as “laugh lines”, are the folds that extend from either side of the nose to the corners of the mouth, while the marionette lines run from the corner of the mouth to the chin. Over time, a line develops in the skin at these areas, which develops into folds or grooves as time passes. There are a variety of fillers available to treat the skin wrinkle, fold or both.
Depending on the depth of the wrinkles and the degree of volume loss, many dermal filler options are available.
New fillers, such as Vollure, that are designed to move with facial animation while at the same time softening signs of the aging process are now available . Options to treat the nasolabial area include Vollure, Juvederm Ultra Plus and the Restylane family of products.
Cheek Volume Loss and Asymmetry
Restoring cheek volume or improving cheek asymmetry can be performed with cheek fillers. Voluma is a popular cheek filler placed on top of the bone simulating stronger and higher cheek bones. Juvederm Ultra Plus and Restylane Lyft finish rounding out the soft tissue above and below the cheek bone. The goal of cheek fillers is to provide a subtle, natural looking appearance to the cheeks and help create a pleasing heart shape to the face. Read more about these fillers.
Chin Volume Loss and Chin Weakness
As the chin ages there is a loss of volume along the jaw line as well as the side of the chin which starts to develop a shadowed appearance. Chin fillers can soften the depression on the side of the chin and the depression in front of the jowl. Fillers commonly used in the chin area include: Voluma, Juvederm Ulra Plus and Restylane Lyft.
Precisely placed nose fillers can camouflage minor imperfections, soften the appearance of a hump or give the appearance of tip elevation. Rhinoplasty is the gold standard for nose re-shaping but sometimes dermal fillers can offer modest improvement.
Tear Trough and Around the Eyes
Shadowing in the tear trough (between the lower eyelid and nose) area and along the lower eye socket bone can be softened with fillers such as Vobella and Restylane. A cannula is usually used in this area to decrease bruising.
Temple Volume Loss
A tell-tale sign of aging is the loss of temple volume which can be improved with filler, helping to smooth the temple transition into the forehead and cheek bone areas.

The cheeks or neck can be treated with InstaLift under local anesthesia, requiring a 2-3 days of down time. A mini-facelift is indicated when there is more extensive sagging of tissues and excess skin.
