Reshape Your Nose with Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, otherwise known as a nose job, is one of the more popular cosmetic procedures available, and for good reason. Not only is the nose one of the most prominent features of the face, but it’s also prone to injury.

Team sports and rough-and-tumble childhoods are often responsible for off-center noses and bumpy bridges. If you’re not satisfied with your nose, rhinoplasty can help you get the appearance you want.

Issues Rhinoplasty Addresses

This procedure can help with both aesthetic and functional problems with your nose. If you have a deviated septum, you may have a hard time breathing through your nose. You may also have a relentless, nasal snore that disturbs you or your partner.

As for cosmetic concerns, rhinoplasty can change the width and length of your nose, repair a previously broken nose, refine the tip or create symmetry between your nostrils.

The Surgical Procedure

Rhinoplasty is done under general anesthesia, meaning you’ll be asleep. How the surgeon performs your procedure may depend on what issues are being addressed. After the necessary repairs are complete, a splint is applied to hold the shape of your new nose.

Rhinoplasty Aftercare

Depending on the procedure you had done, your follow-up visit will be scheduled sometime post-surgery. You’ll need to relax and rest for several days before resuming work or other normal routines to allow for the best healing possible.

Disqualifying Conditions

While this procedure is usually tolerated well, it’s not right for everyone. If you’ve ever had an allergic reaction or complications from general anesthesia, then check with the doctor first. Those with heart trouble, bleeding disorders or breathing problems originating in the lungs may not be good candidates.

If you smoke, you’ll need to quit. Smokers sometimes have problems healing after any kind of surgery. If you’re prone to keloid scars, surgery of any kind may not be right for you. If you’re in general good health, you can be optimistic about getting good results.
