Chin Implant

A chin implant, or chin augmentation, creates facial harmony by restoring the proper balance between other facial features as well as the neckline.

Chin Implant Results

Good chin implant candidates have a weak chin profile in relation to their other facial features. If a weak chin creates a poorly defined chin-neck profile or if the weak chin is out of proportion with other facial features, such as the nose, you may be a candidate for a chin implant.

At your consultation we will examine the strength of your chin in relation to your other facial features and discuss the implant that will provide the best result. Before and after computer imaging of possible results is a useful communication tool used to show how a chin implant can improve your profile. A chin implant is often recommended as an excellent complement to rhinoplasty, facelift and neck lift procedures.

The procedure begins with an incision in a crease under the chin, or inside the lower lip. The implant is placed in a precise pocket created on top of the bone, under the muscle. Once the appropriate implant style and size is chosen, it is placed in the pocket and the incision is closed.

After a chin implant procedure, patients report minimal pain, swelling and bruising. A soft diet is recommended and the small bandage is removed after one week. Patients return to work and daily activities after one week, though it may take several weeks for the majority of swelling to diminish.
