Benefits of Endonasal Rhinoplasty

There are two main types of nose jobs or rhinoplasties: Open Rhinoplasty and Closed Rhinoplasty Sacramento. In an external or open rhinoplasty, the surgeon cuts into the nose to get a good look at the treatment site. In a closed or endonasal rhinoplasty, the surgeon works strictly within the nose.

Nasal surgery has a surprisingly long history. Archaeologists have found papyrus describing treatments for nose deformities dating back three thousand years ago in Egypt.

The first description of a modern endonasal surgery dates back to 1887. It was used to correct the saddle nose deformity.

The first open rhinoplasty was performed in 1921. Although open rhinoplasties were sometimes used to show medical students the inside of the human nose, they did not become popular operations in their own right until the 1970s.

What are the advantages of a closed rhinoplasty?

The main advantage of a closed Rhinoplasty Sacramento is that all the work is done inside the nose. An endonasal rhinoplasty is also less invasive than an external rhinoplasty and, therefore, has a shorter recovery time.

An open rhinoplasty gives the surgeon easier access to the nasal tip and is thus the better technique if he is working on the nose tip.

While the external rhinoplasty may be a better option in cases of severe trauma, the closed rhinoplasty may be suitable for people who have less major problems.

Who is a good candidate for a closed rhinoplasty?

The best candidates for closed rhinoplasties are healthy people who have realistic expectations and understand the risks that accompany surgery.

Females can get the procedure starting at 15 years old while males are eligible starting at 16 or 17.

How should the patient prepare for a closed nose job?

The patient needs to consult with the surgeon to discuss their options. The surgeon will decide if the patient is a good candidate for endonasal rhinoplasty.

During the consultation, the surgeon will take the patient’s medical history and ask if they smoke or take any medications.

If the patient smokes, the surgeon may request them to stop smoking some time before the procedure to avoid complications.

Since some medications can interfere with healing, the patient may need to mention this while the surgeon reviews their medical history.

Because everyone’s noses are different, the patient’s nose, its shape, skin, condition, will be taken into account.
