What is Coolsculpting?
CoolSculpting® is an FDA-approved non-invasive body contouring treatment that uses controlled cooling to freeze fat and eliminate fat. It is the #1 treatment of its kind in the entire world. The CoolSculpting procedure is not for everyone; CoolSculpting® is not a treatment for obesity. As with any medical procedure, ask us if CoolSculpting® is right for you!
How does CoolSculpting® work?
Coolsculpting® is an amazing technology that uses controlled cooling to freeze your fat cells. Once treated fat cells are frozen, the body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells, this entire process is called Cryolipolysis®.
Permanent Results. Where does the fat go?
Once treated the fat cells are crystalized (frozen), your body processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells. Your body will continue to flush out fat cells for 4-6 months after treatment.
Once the fat cells are gone, they’re gone for good.
Double Chin Options
The Cool Mini procedure is a great way to freeze the fat between the skin and underlying muscle, improving neck contour. Kybella® injections are a way to further refine the result under the chin after CoolMini sessions. Some people who are disappointed with the degree of improvement under the chin would be better served with a mildly invasive procedure call a submentoplasty. Through about a one inch incision under the chin the fat beneath the muscle can be removed and the muscles tightened. Evaluation by an experienced CoolSculpting® team member will tell you your best options.
DualSculpting
Dualsculpting is the process of using two Coolsculpting® machines simultaneously to reduce the time required to complete treatments. While effective in reducing treatment time Dualsculpting was more uncomfortable because of the two applicators used simultaneously and the sometime awkward positioning needed to treat two area at once. Thankfully, the new CoolAdvantage treatments have cut the treatment time in half and Dualsculpting is not necessary.
CoolSculpting® vs. Liposuction
Liposuction is the removal of fat cells through an instrument called a cannula placed through small incisions. The shape changes are more dramatic and achieved quicker. There is a short recovery involved. Some patients who want to achieve a more dramatic and quicker result may consider tumescent liposuction. Please visit our liposuction page to learn more.
CoolSculpting® Side Effects
During the procedure you may experience some pulling, tugging, pinching, numbness, or discomfort. Following the procedure, typical side effects include temporary numbness, redness, swelling, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, and pain. Rare side effects may also occur.
Other Technologies
There are many technologies out there that claiming to noninvasively eliminate fat and improve shape. We have evaluated these technologies and feel that CoolSculpting® is the best and most reliable way to achieve nonsurgical shape change.
Skin Tightening
The Coolsculpting® procedure is a great way to improve your shape noninvasively and with no downtime. It is not however indicated for skin tightening.
